What’s your why? Why did you start your business?
After 20+ years in corporate America, I had a yearning for something more. I didn’t realize right away that entrepreneurship was the next chapter I’d be writing for my life but when I finally “got it” I stepped out on faith. The first couple of years were turbulent finding my true voice and passion but I realized that championing women to be, do and live their best has always been my purpose.

What made you choose to do what you do?

I have an extensive background in branding, sales and marketing. And so it made sense to form my business around those areas. Over the last few years however, I’ve taken what I know intellectually about these disciplines and marry them with spiritual teachings. I did this because I realized I had personally hid that part of my true essence from the world and figured other women were doing the same. I’m a rule breaker by nature but not merely for the sake of rebelling. Instead, it’s about looking at what works and what doesn’t. It may not always feel good at first to stand apart in a sea of sameness but I’ve got to tell you…when it honors who you are, it feels pretty darned good. And creating that sense of empowerment and awareness in women is why I do what I do…

What has been of the greatest help for you building your business so far?

For me, it’s coupling my head and my heart with strategy and tactics. That my sound unusual but for so long I kept the two parts of my being separate – head and heart. Today, I operate and build my business by embracing everything I’ve got and feeling no shame for doing things a bit differently than we’re taught in business school.

Are there any tools, techniques, etc… that you have used that have been helpful to you?

My business began to change dramatically when I leveraged the Internet as a channel to grow my business. The reach power of the Internet is hands down the reason I’ve been able to grow my business so quickly. I thank my lucky stars for this incredible way to communicate my brand to thousands and build my business.

What’s been the biggest challenge so far?

I don’t really view anything that comes my way as a challenge. Instead, I choose to view opportunities for growth, change and a means to guide me to a new level…

What keeps you going?

A love for what I do. When you find your true calling, there’s nothing that will stop you. Each time I receive an email or note card from a subscriber to my ezine, How She Does It, or get a comment from a client about how something I coached them through shifted their perspective…that is my “red bull.”

What’s your favorite quote/s to live and work by?

There are so many but nothing as simple (or powerful) as the golden rule…

Do you have any favorite books on business and/or personal development?

Oh boy…you’ve opened up a can of worms! I usually read several books at a time. Right now I have the following in rotation: Think and Grow Rich (always worth reading a couple of times a year), Simple Abundance, A New Earth, Sacred Contracts, No BS Wealth Attraction.

Do you have any favorite web sites for business and/or personal development?

Well let’s see…there’s Secret to Her Success, my blog (of course) the MavHERick™ Marketer blog www.mavherickmindblog.com I enjoy Joe Vitales blog, www.blog.mrfire.com and Seth Godin’s blog is pretty fantastic, www.sethgodin.typepad.com

What would you tell someone thinking about starting their own business?

Start with the foundation for your business…your brand. I’m not recommending that merely because I’m a brand strategist but because the soul of your business is your brand and the heart of your brand is you. Get clear on your purpose and intention. This is what you’ll build your business on.

What’s your dream?
That we no longer fear our light and greatness. That we embrace it happily, share it with others and watch global magic happen.

Anything else that you would like to share that may be helpful knowledge to anyone reading this?

I’m often asked a lot of “how” questions. How do I attract more clients? How do I market my new service or product? How do I approach a potential jv? How do I get out of my own way? The answer to almost anything you ever want to know is found in your “secret story.” That place inside of you where your most intimate conversations take place…that’s where you answers already lye.
